The drive behind Will Robinson’s work is to bring his vision from the ephemeral to the physical through what he refers to as the “process of translation.” He brings these visions to form in stone, utilizing the medium’s enduring solidity and resistance to the ravages of time and the elements. He melds carved and polished surfaces with rough hewn basalt and granite. The impact of his work is equally important in the visual sense as it is in its physical, tactile presence. He encourages the viewer to touch the work to engage them more personally. He says, “My inspiration is drawn from the sum of my life experiences, the amplified or muted to fit my emotional state at the moment when I am actually creating.” Robinson has shown with the Foster/White Gallery since 1996. His work is part of public collections in Washington and private collections in Washington, California, and Texas.
